extra, extra read all about it

Back to the US with the next one. Still straight up hardcore. Keepin' it raw, simple and in your face.

Missionary - american strike 7" - 2014 Warthog Speak WS-005

Their demo killed it already and they are not letting up with this release.
Comes with a really big and nice newspaper print insert.
Also released on limited clear vinyl.

Vegan Straight Edge

At least some people in Germany know how to make good music. As stated in Low Life Fanzine #1 this is 75% german, 25% russian and 100% hardcore. 'nuff said.

Mind Trap - life among liars and thieves 7" - 2014 Refuse Records 102 / Sfr Hardcore 4

Their demo was pretty good already but this one is even better.
Right up there with the last few records I posted about.
500 of these were pressed. All on black. No fancy shit.

Death will serve you better

And another band traveling the same road but in their very own car. I just can't get enough of that.

Mercy Killings - s/t 7" - 2013 Beach Impediment Records BIR-009

This is first press black vinyl out of 550.  There was also a limited edition first pressing on blue vinyl out of 150 and a 2nd press on black with green print on the center labels out of 330

Two of these songs are from their demo and the others are new. Well, were new. Meanwhile they sold out of a promo tape for an upcoming 7". That's bad and good news all in one.

Hard

This is a Richmond, Virginia band doing what I like the most. Mix fast and raw US HC with Oi

Hard Stripes - s/t 7" - 2013 Vinyl Conflict Records VC-003

After their 2012 demo that I'm still looking for they put out a United Blood 2013 version of said tape and included 2 songs as a teaser for this 7".

Maybe it's just wishful thinking but I think I saw a new release on the horizon.
Can anyone confirm that?

The reaper wants you to....

The UK is brimming with great bands right now. This is one of them

Die - s/t 7" - 2013 Sonic Terror Discs STD1

This is their demo pressed onto vinyl and it was engineered by Jonah Falco of Fucked Up. What ever that means. I have no grasp of whatever an engineer does. All I can say is that this is one of the best Oi tinged hardcore I have ever heard.

On their bandcamp page they state that 970 copies were pressed and that they are sold out. Anyone know about new material? I need more of that.

the only circus i'm down with

You might remember that a few posts earlier I mentioned going to the Take Offense / Cold Stare Show and that they those bands didn't have any interesting vinyl for sale. That's because I had already ordered what they did sell that night due to not being sure whether I would go there or not. So this arrived in the mail a couple of days after the show:

Cold Stare - the circus 7" - 2013 Flatspot Records FSR-08

It took me a couple of spins though before I could appreciate this record. But that's a good thing. It means they progressed. Now progress is not always good but in this case it is. You can only write a song so many times before it gets boring. I have a feeling that won't happen here. Maybe they will move into a direction that I can't get behind with their next release but I respect that a hell of a lot more than playing it safe aka churning out the same old boring shit all the time because that's what people expect you to do.

I can't find any pressing info online but I guess I got the more common version out of the two that were pressed, the other being a transparent blue, because that's usually what I end up with when ordering things from a distro. Which to repeat myself I'm totally fine with. Blue, yellow what's the difference.

I'm still missing their s/t 7" which apparently was only pressed once at a capacity of 200. Which probably means I'll never get one. Then again maybe I don't even have to as their is a single compilation LP scheduled to come out on Street Kids Records. I hope it drops soon.

Keep your eyes peeled for the good stuff.

That price is not so Civilized!

Not the most expensive recent 7" release I picked up. That would be one of the RSD releases. But definitely very pricey.

Civilized - dust & blood - 2014 Youth Attack Records YA89

Once I had this release I knew what caused the price. The record has an inner sleeve that looks a little like what other records have as a regular cover and it comes in what I think is called an Arigato style jacket. Just look at it. It's beautiful and so worth the money.

The music is really harsh old school hardcore with a singer that reminds me of a dirtier more pissed of Ray Of Today.

Besides the black vinyl version I have there were two other colors pressed. Having been late again there was no chance of getting one of those but I like black vinyl better most of the times anyway. It works perfectly with the whole layout on this release so it's all good. I'm just glad I got one of these from Per Koro along with other stuff instead of having to go through discogs ending up paying postage for just one 7".

censored Blotter???

First thing that I got to notice about this band was the awesome cover of their record. Then I listened to it and the sound was a perfect match. Great. Had to have it so when I got a chance I ordered it from one of the few places I do get my new records from.

Blotter - under armour '77 7" - 2014 Erste Theke Tonträger ETT-021

But wait. What's this? That's not the cover I fell in love with. Why did they use a different cover for the german pressing??? I don't get it. Now I kinda need a copy of the US pressing too. I just hope that the inserts are the same since this one here really kills it. If that's the case and I'll ever happen to come across a US copy this one will have to leave.

Look at the inside of the insert. So much going on. I think this is the only record with an insert that opens up like that. Great idea!

BS Oslo

Ok. After this break in posting I'll get back covering my pick ups of current bands that I like in alphabetical order. Most if not all of them are nothing I really collect so I'm fine with owning any copy of each release. Also I don't know to much about the bands so these will be pretty short posts.

First release to be covered is this fine 12" that I don't even remember where I ordered it from. I really have to get that backstock dealt with so I can post about new records as they arrive.

Blood Suckers - crush to dust LP - 2014 Sjakk Matt Plater SJAKK MATT 18

All I know about this band is that they are from Oslo, Norway and that they did something like a weekend of shows in Germany that were not too well attended. Kids these days are just not into the good old hardcore sound. Which is one reason why I hardly ever go to shows lately. The good bands hardly ever come through this hardcore dessert I live in.

This is the first and probably only pressing of their vinyl debut out of 300. They made a few copies of their demo but that sold out before I got wind of them but as far as I know those songs are on here too.
Can't wait for the new 7" they have scheduled to come out on Hardware Records.
