ABCD

aka Randoms

POISON IDEA and NEGATIVE APPROACH on one bill? Awesome! Info.

MUNICIPAL WASTE are not really my kinda Band. I can't listen to much of their music in one go but this video is funny!

MINISTRY's Al Jourgensen is found to be anti-retirement. Info.

THE JON SPENCER BLUES EXPLOSION releasing their first new album in 8 years called Meat & Bone in September. Info.

CAT POWER releases new record with original material which is a lot poppier than her last selfpenned output the greatest if you can judge the whole thing by this video.

STEVE MARTIN (I know you like him) plays the Banjo in a Bluegrass Band. More pics and a video.

I didn't watch that video yet but how can David Lynch make a bad video of CHRIS ISAAK's wicked game? Check out US tourdates and the official ck add video here.

NU SENSAE you should check out if you like Babes in Toyland and kbd/ garage punk. I do so sadly there are only US and Canada tourdates available along with the videos. Try to find the clip that features dogs, peanutbutter (do I hear someone saying Bobby Pin?) and jam. But don't look at that hideous record cover. Besides this and the name they are really worth checking out.

VEGANS are strong!! Or at least they can be ;)

The Country and Blue Grass Bar ain't dead yet

The weekend approacheth and with it The CBGB's Festival!!!

Find out more about it here:

That second post by the Brooklyn based vegans kinda makes me want to be there. But I won't :/ Members of the Ramones, Dead Boys, Heartbreakers, Dictators and Television. One stage - one night (though sadly not at the same time as one band)! How can you not want to be there??

Curious about what will follow.

Is this your kinda Clan?

I'm not much of a hiphop/ rap fan. I do have one or the other record but generally speaking I'm quite thrown off with the the way that genre presents itself to. That whole blin-bling and chicks thing is so annoying. Now I'm sure there are artists who deal with better topics but the mainstream shit is making me crazy and the music doesn't thrill me enough to go hunt for something interesting.

That said I do like some of the Wu-Tang stuff. Somehow they manage to catch my attention again and again. Just like in the past few days I read about 2 endeavors of different Clan members that I feel the need to share with you:

First of is RZA. He directs a martial arts (what else?) movie that is going to be presented by Quentin Tarantino and stars Russel Crow and Lucy Liu. If the whole film is anything like the trailer, as opposed to the trailer featuring its best moments and the rest being crap, It will be one of the best Action movies ever. What I can tell from the trailer it's so over the top (no pun intended) people at the movies will probably be screaming and laughing so hard you can hear it in the streets. It seems to be balancing real martial arts, exaggeration and wit in a way only a few others do. Just the right combination for me. Check out the trailer and a press statement to be found in the original post on DM.

Next up and closing things out is GZA with something not that far from the Clan's usual field of expertise. Well musicwise that is. He is about to release a new record which is nothing to out of the ordinary but it's a concept album with a rather atypical subject I don't think anyone ever tackled that way. He "has been sitting down with top physicists and cosmologists at MIT, Cornell University and elsewhere over the past few months for primers on the universe. Now, he's turning the lessons into lyrics." In the post on the WTFHYD? Blog that brought this to my attention and has a tad more info it also reads "GZA is teaming up with Marco Vitali, a composer, producer and Juilliard-trained violinist, on the score. They're aiming for a cosmic atmosphere." Now that I want to hear.
