WOLF X DOWN - vegan x straight x edge

Sink Or Swim was a really good Band that my old Band No Easy Run shared the stage with on more than one occasion and it was always good times. So it was a bad thing to see them fold but now some of them have a new thing going Wolf X Down and they are also on bandcamp. You know what to do.

Jeff Terranova!!! Shenanigans and serious stuff!

Jeff Terranova used to play Bass for the incredible UP FRONT (who still play shows) on their classic SPIRIT LP and switched over to take care of the vocals on later releases. And as if that isn't enough he also is the one-man-show known as fucking SMORGASBORD RECORDS. Right now he has a new Band called CONFIDENCE CRISIS (fb) and is taking great pictures.

Over on xSTUCK IN THE PASTx is an interview with him where among other interesting things he shares a really funny tour story about hi-jacking a lawn gnome. It's hilarious!

Check out all this stuff!!!!

Impact Bookings etc. Help a brother out!!!

Does anyone remember Pointing Finger from Portugal? They were a great Youth X Crew Band that folded a few years back but as it was written at least once on the back of a Shirt in 2006 "different ways always mean different lives". My man Rafa who played drums for PF started Impact Bookings a while back and also is in XpressureX. You should know he is good at what he does. If not from knowing PF then maybe because you saw him filling in on drums on the The First Step/ Common Cause Tour a while back. So go check them out.
Diogo who used to sing for PF and does (did?) the awesome Wake Up And Live 'zine is now fronting Critical X Point. Anyone who has ever seen one of his Bands live will know that he is a terrific frontman. Crucial dude right there. So check them out too.

Here are the links and what Rafa had to say:

INTO ANOTHER - lost album download

I faintly remember having read something about a lost album by the magnificent INTO ANOTHER but didn't give it much thought. Well as they say all good things come to those who can wait and here it is. A download link for another chapter in the history of an awesome Band. Provided by All Over This Town. Go over there read the post, download the album, be polite and say thank you ;)

Anna Calvi - Desire ---- official video

Watch that video I stole from Vimeo and then go buy all her records. So far there is a full length and three 7"es. One with only exclusive songs and the others with exclusive b-sides. All vinyl released by Domino Records. If you wanna go with a 7" first I would recommend the Blackout single. Put on the b-side, sit down, close your eyes and listen to her singing "...surrender to me..." ..... goose-bumps right there when I only think of it. So good!!!!

Legal Daughters - mirror of innocence

I'm having some time off. Finally after a very busy month I was able to spend some quality time with my wife again. Today she's back at work but I don't have to work until the day after tomorrow so I rode my bike downtown for some vinyl business. Actually I wanted to save some money for our trip to NYC so I could go record hunting on some new turf (so btw if you know of any place to score some nice vinyl - preferably on the cheap - It would be very welcomed if you'd let me know about it) But somehow today I couldn't hold back. Maybe it was the sun. Well, who knows? And who cares? So here's what I got:

Sons & Daughters - mirrorrorrim LP

This is the new output by this 4-piece from Scotland. I discovered this Band while working at an "Eins Live" open air festival. "Eins Live" is a local Radio Station that plays annoying charts music all the time so of all places in the world this festival was the last one I'd expect to be getting to know a good Band at. I was going about my business backstage when they went on and while not paying attention at all they somehow managed to make me listen and check them out. Well, not much later I bought their 1st full length "The repulsion box" and loved it. Great mix of male / female vocals over driving indie music with a punch and rough edges. Usually the word indie makes me cringe but this is so good I also bought their 2nd longplayer "The Gift" and again it was no mistake to do so although I was a little afraid at first. A lot of Bands become boring quite fast trying to stick to the same old formula that did already work. Not the S&D. It's so different from the 1st while still being S&D without a doubt. And the one I bought today is no exception from the rule. It sounds so damn fresh it's really amazing. I urge all of you with the least bit of interest in good music to go check this Band out.

Legal Weapon - death of innocence LP

This is the official 1991 reissue on Triple X Records of a totally underrated Gem that was originally released in 1982 on Arsenal Records with a different cover and a lyricsheet. If anyone of you knows wether the reissue came with a lyricsheet or not please let me know. I couldn't find any info concerning that matter online. Mine doesn't have one as you might have guessed.
I really don't know why this Band has never gotten big. It certainly has all the right ingredients. Throughout the record I do hear parts that could very well be on an Avengers or X release. At times I even find myself thinking Blondie. And as if those aren't enough reasons to check them out they do have Steve Soto & Frank Agnew of The Adolescents on Bass & Guitar. So if you're into early West-Coast Punk/ Hardcore do yourself a favor and check them out
