No Mercy & Cycotic Youth LP's new in the Distro

Two new items from Punk Records have checked in yesterday:

CYCOTIC YOUTH - s/t LP - 13,00
(punk records * blue vinyl /100)

Unfortunately the insert isn't too clear about which of the three demos they recorded is actually featured on the LP but it seems like it's only the 2nd one from 1986 although I don't think they put out a demo that would actually have enough material for a 33RPM LP. I think there are at least two demos on here. Well Interpunk says this about the CD Version:

"Cycotic Youth CD contains all 3 of there Demos 1985 , 1986 , 1987 . The 1987 has 2 of the 3 founding members of cryptic slaughter in the band. The 1986 demo personally I think is one of the best hardcore demos of the 1980s . Sadly the band was never able to make an album when they were still active, after 25 years this is there debut Release. Strongly influenced by the 1st Suicidal Album & Neighborhood Watch in music style. This is true Classic Venice Hardcore Punk Rock at its best, Ripping Hardcore; they are actually from the Santa Monica Suicidal Punks Vinyl is to follow later in the year."

and they also have a little more of a Biography on their site:

"Cycotic Youth was formed in the summer of 1984 in the city of Santa Monica,California by Jimmie Brown (drums) and brother Jason Brown (vocals) , Marcus Luna (guitar) and Ingomar Herland (bass guitar) ,Delinquent Society was the original name of the band. They changed it after about six months. This band was formed out of the heavy influence and following of Suicidal Tendencies (hence the CYCOtic spelling of the name taken from the Suicidal Cyco's following). Other bands that were huge influences were local legends No Reaction, Neighborhood Watch and No Mercy. Their music is based on personal experiences and angry observations of the time in which they were raised. They recorded there 1st demo in 1985. they played every backyard party and Masonic Lodge gig they could, developing a following that would eventually, in a pay to play agreement, sell out the infamous Roxy Theater in Hollywood on Nov.18th-1987.
There were personnel changes throughout the bands history. Shortly after recording the second demo in 1986 Ingomar left after a 4th of July Independence Day fireworks accident. He was very hard to replace. Allot of the music and lyrics and artwork came from him. There was a cast of misfit's that played bass during the year of 1986. Many of them were friends of the band. The band finally found there backbone in Adam Scott in late 1986. He was a friend and follower of the band who had been playing with another Santa Monica band, thrash metal giant’s, Cryptic Slaughter who were on the major record label at the time Metal Blade Records. Adam had a heavy speed metal influence that brought some beef to the music. Marcus left in mid 1987 to attend college. He was replaced by another friend and follower of the band, the lead singer of Cryptic Slaughter Billy Crooks. Adam Moved to guitar and Billy played bass and sang back up vocals. This was the line up that played that infamous Roxy Theater show and recorded a 3rd demo in 1987. And was the line up when the band broke up in mid 1988. Santa Monica Suicidal Punks Cycotic Youth 1984-1988."

NO MERCY - og LP - 13,00
(punk records)

I'm pretty sure a lot of you folks know about the 'Widespread Bloodshed' LP by NO MERCY. It had Mike Muir from Suicidal Tendencies on Vocals and a few of those songs became ST songs later on when No Mercy called it quits. These recordings here however are early recordings with their original singer Keven Guercio. Prepare yourself for the 1983 Demo, 4 songs from a 1983 rehearsal, 3 studio tracks and Live recordings from their show at The Country Club in Reseda California on Jan. 30th 1986.

Here is a Biography I took from Streets Of Venice:

"The band started in 1982 and featured lead vocalist Keven Guercio, guitarist Mike Clark, bassist Ken Blakley later replaced by Ric "Rancid" Clayton (the artist who designed the Suicidal Tendencies logo as well as the shirts on S.T.'s first album) and drummer Sal Troy. Guercio recorded a few demos and the tracks on the Welcome to Venice (1985) compilation before leaving and moving to Jackson Hole, WY and replaced by Suicidal Tendencies lead vocalist Mike Muir. Muir signed them to his independent label Suicidal Records.

In 1987 No Mercy released their first and only album Widespread Bloodshed Love Runs Red, and were about to record their second album with many new songs already written but Clayton and Troy quit. Instead of recruiting new members, Muir decided to "merge" the two bands by having Clark join Suicidal Tendencies.
Clark took over much of the songwriting duties for Suicidal, shifting its style more to a melodic thrash metal sound similar to No Mercy's and what would have been No Mercy's second album became Suicidal Tendencies' third album, How Will I Laugh Tomorrow When I Can't Even Smile Today.
In 1989 Suicidal Tendencies released the Controlled by Hatred/Feel Like Shit...Déjà Vu compilation. Many of the songs on it, including "Waking The Dead" and "Controlled By Hatred", were re-recorded by Suicidal Tendencies from the Widespread Bloodshed album.
Muir and Clark relaunched the band in 2000 as "No Mercy Fool!" and with all new members, mostly people from Suicidal Tendencies and Infectious Grooves, and also contributed two songs for the 2001 Suicidal Records compilation Suicidal Friends and Family - Vol. 2. They are now working on a new record, according to the Suicidal Tendencies website.
Guercio has just recorded a track on the album Welcome 2 Venice (2007) called Roll the Dice (available on iTunes) with the original members from Suicidal Tendencies. Album produced by Louchi Mayorga.

No Mercy's new track, "Crazy But Proud," is featured on the Suicidal Tendencies / Infectious Grooves compilation album, Year of the Cycos."

And pictures of my record:

If you like Hardcore and Skateboarding you have to have both of these records. Don't forget the roots!
I never skated but still think this is crucial stuff. So there is really no excuse not to own this.

Euro dudes 'n' dudettes can order from the Sandblaster Distro. US fans might wanna order from Punk Records directly.
