Bixby Bars

It seems there is not much going on lately. But maybe that's just because I tend to avoid checking for news while on this fucking 2 month work stretch away from home . I do so in order to not see all the events I'm missing out on but who am I kidding? The last couple of days I simply had no time and now that I do have some I'm back on the web browsing the shit out of it. So maybe there will be a few more updates coming. Just don't expect me to join the hype about those REV25 Shows. While I don't think Reunions are bad in general it certainly feels like they are taking it a step too far. Also I have to say that those VIP Tickets are a load of crap. VIP's at a HC show? Going Backstage to meet the Bands? Give me a break!!! Rumor even has it that at least the Cali. edition was sponsored by Toyota. If that's true then maybe those who did the Revelation can suck it Bootleg were not that wrong after all. Who knows?

But let's get to the actual topic of the post:

The Bixby Bars!

What can I write about it? It's vegan and only reading about it makes me drool! Also the whole thing is so eco-friendly it hurts. Wrapper and all. But I damn well like that kind of pain ;)

If you want to know more about the different flavors it comes in, the whole concept and where to get some here's the link to my source of information.

Please can someone retail that stuff in Germany? But not just in Berlin like with the Daiya Cheese because I live way over on the other side of the G. And a question to finish my bit of rambling: Why are all the vegan candybars available over here so crappy? i cannot remember a good one I bought in all the places I've been to in Europe. Except for on my last holidaytrip to Brighton. My wife bought some snacks for the ride home and although she did not like the raw candy bars she bought by mistake and I wasn't too delighted at first I have to admit I'd like one of those now. There were three different flavors brought to my attention but the only one I remember is the Cashew bar which was made only from cashews (who would have guessed) and dates. Nothing else! Awesome. I think one had Almonds and anotherone definitely had some chocolate.

But I wanted to stop rambling. So here are pictures of all the flavors that the Bixby Bar comes in and who knows maybe I'll find something nice tonight in Budapest. Cross your fingers for me. Can't wait to get out of this shithole and get a tasty vegan dinner.

CAN YOU BLAME ME FOR DROOLING?

YO! Put it on and crank it up!

Been waiting on that compilation for a long time. Already kinda forgot about it in the meanwhile thinking it was already out but hey... now it is. Release date was June 8th.
It's chockfull of good Bands. Best compilation I've heard in a while and that's not just because the mighty Hangin' Tough are on there ;) Next to them Better Times, Survival and Giant stick out from all the solid songs on that Tape... Yes! Tape!! Classic Format!!! Go listen and then buy something. Although I don't see the Tape in the store. Maybe you wanna shoot Crackin' Up Tapes a message to inquire about a real life copy of the comp. 15 hours ago they still had some according to their facebook profile.
Get on it!!

time is running...

it won't be that long until i have a lot of work and therefore won't be home that much so there are a hell of a lot of things to take care of. meaning I don't have the time for a proper update here but still wanted to let you know some news in the DOWN & OUTS department. This is stolen from their fb-page:

Pleased to announce that our third album, 'Forgotten Streets' will be released by Boss Tuneage on CD in the UK/Europe and by Waterslide in Japan. All in Vinyl will be doing the LP, along with Germany's Yo-Yo records. Think we're looking at July 23rd. We might even play a few gigs too. Giz a shout if there's owt good going on.

After that, there will be a split 7" on All in Vinyl, with an as yet to be confirmed band. We still have a few songs left over from the album sessions too if anyone wants tracks for a 7"/splt/comp etc.

SO STOKED!!!

More of the Boys from the blackstuff

Man did I not pay attention to this band in the beginning. Unfortunately that is! But ever since I saw them live at Ninja Fest in I think 2007, or was it 2008? I don't remember. And who cares? They are awesome no matter when they blew me away for the first time. I can't get enough of the DOWN AND OUTS. Sadly I never saw them live again but gladly managed to get my hands on a vinyl copy of "boys from the blackstuff" and their split 7" with Death Is Not Glamorous. For some reason their records are pretty hard to track down although I still have some copies of "friday nights, monday mornings" for sale that nobody seems to want. Escapes me! What you ask? Both! That nobody wants to buy those records from me and that at the same time I can't find their earlier output. Well.... one reason for that might be that I didn't even know about their first 7" "forever punk" from 2006. Just like I didn't know about the 2007 follow up 7" called "Minneapolis" and the split 7" w/ Offshore Radio and the 4 way split LP from 2005. Only today I had the pleasure to read about those releases on the bands facebook page when they shared some news. But now that I know about those platters I will definitely be on look out for them. The fact that today I found the split 7" that was still missing in my collection should underline that statement ;) I love it. I read about something I want to have and think I'll probably have a hard time finding it but then only a few hours later I can cross it off my list again. Let's cross our fingers the other ones will be about as easy to come by.
But hey... you might say. What about those news you mentioned? Well... they have a bandcamp. Is that news? I don't know. Maybe it's new maybe not but what's new for sure is that they are putting all the old stuff on there for everyone to download. For free? Not really but it's hella cheap. So check that out. There's info on pressings and recordings and other tidbits that sweetened the day of an old hardcore kid like me.
Now you might call that pretty lame news because you already downloaded all that stuff illegally from the web or already have all those records. Then here's something for you. Of course I saved the best part for last. The new album is finished!!! To me that's like the cherry on top of the cream on a cupcake. Good news on an already good day. Can't wait to hear the tunes and see that vinyl spin on my record player. I'm on holidays so I'll leave it at that and call it a day. Nighty night and sleep tight world.

SSD... RSD Glue

Yes it's a while back already but some of you might not have seen the pictures and videos of the SNIFFING GLUE show at one of the best Recordstores aka Hitsville Records in Düsseldorf, Germany.
In celebration of Record Store Day Hitsville and Search For Fame Records put out a SNIFFING GLUE LP that features 13 cover songs and is ltd. to 222 copies with hand silkscreened covers on very heavy cardboard. Deluxe shit as always.

Hit the links to see what you missed or to reminisce.

The Future is now

I'm having a bit of time on my hands lately to enjoy life aka nerding around on the internet. So I found the following posts on a blog that never ceases to amaze me: designlaunches.com. If any of the titles and attached photos of their posts catches your interest hit the pic to get to the source of and learn more about it. Here we go starting things of with a post that doesn't really fit the title I gave my post but is still something I like and in a way minimalistic living is quite futuristic. Even if it's only a holiday retreat and not really something you would want to live in or do you?

And now on to something funny to wrap up the futuristic stuff:

Another new Tranzmitors record

Most of you are probably in the know about the Transmitorz new 7" on React! Records which is available right here.

But do you also know that these fellows already have another one in the pipeline?

While anticipating their new release on React! I was pretty much caught off guard by these news and therefore even the more excited.

La-Ti-Da Records who already put out one of their earlier singles (Some Girls b/w Dancing in the frontrow) are taking care of the latest recordings these stylesterz churned out. The regular black vinyl out of 350  is available for pre-order in the sidebar on this site here and a ltd. to 150 copies color vinyl edition is available in a bundle that pairs it with 5 more La-Ti-Da 7"es
