Not many bands can survive the short lived attention span of hardcore folks for 8 years without releasing anything new after they only put out one 7". These dudes did though. Great Boston Hardcore in the tradition of the originators.

Just like with the first record they released there is a limited clear vinyl version of this out there but I'm fine with a common black vinyl copy.

Well at least if you're into late 80s NYHC that is.

For you folks who are the 1987 demo by Breakdown is probably a well known and loved part of your collection. Be it the ever so elusive real deal tape or the vinyl reissue on Blackout! Records.

But how many of you knew about the Runnin' Scared demo? I sure didn't until this record was announced

 

Breakdown - Runnin' Scared LP - Painkiller Records PKR-049, 540 Records – 540-034

The namesake demo to this record was recorded in late '88 after two members had already started Raw Deal and recorded that band's demo.

The fact that Breakdown went into hibernation for almost a decade not that long after the tape was released is probably the main reason why it only got the attention it deserves a whopping 25 years later. And it's pretty amusing that even today it is better than 99% of the current bands who emulate the style.

The LP also compiles two tracks recorded earlier in 1988 and a live WNYU Crucial Chaos Radio broadcast from early '89.

Any selfrespecting NYHC collection is incomplete without this.

The eagle has landed - Stop & Think

for my first post on here in 4 months i moved two records slightly up the pile to make sure i'm coming back with somewhat of a bang.

when i came back home from tour in january one of the few and off the top of my head my most recent ebay score had arrived already:

ever since its release i tried to get my hands on either of those but somehow they always eluded me because they sold out too fast and i wasn't willing to pay enough to win either on the bay.

but then while being bored on tour these two popped up as one auction. usually that's not a good idea for the seller and it proved to be true in this case too. i figured why not put down a bid that is kinda half way between what i've seen the rarer version go for and what they would maybe go for in two separate auctions. as you can see this train of thought went to the right destination.
with vinyl noize postings having gone done quite a lot the price of these probably did too but it's still one of the best records from that era and any serious collector should know that and be able to appreciate it.

i would have been totally fine with owning either one and somehow i'd still be although it feels pretty good to own both. but for a trade i'll remember you can pry whichever one you're after away from me.

Real Hardcore

I never heard of a band called PRISON ABUSE until today and I'm already in love. They are going to release an LP on Painkiller Records and besides the info that Prison Abuse is comprised of Think I Care, Waste Management and Mind Eraser members I couldn't find any more details. So this seems to be the next mysterious band from Boston just like Boston Strangler. Unfortunately I slept on any of the BS releases and am still looking to find them at a normal price (so if you can hook me up I'll be grateful) but I intend to not let this happen again. If you know any of the mentioned bands you will get the right idea of how PA sound. Real Hardcore for real men people! If you need a listen Painkiller's got you covered.
