age of the bootleg

Cro-Mags - age of quarrel 10" - Bootleg

Is there anyone who doesn't know the story of that record? Let alone any one of the recordings or even the band? There's nothing I could write right now that wasn't already mentioned a million times. So glad I finally have a first press of this boot. It's # 1319/1500. Now I can let go of my 2nd press with the green font. If any of you are looking for that one let me know.
Owning a copy of the original tape would rule but I don't think I'll ever be ready to spend what it takes. But who knows maybe I'll find one for cheap somewhere sometime. Let's not stop dreaming folks.

And with this purchase I now own all the Cro-Mags vinyl I need. I have a US 1st press AOQ LP with the red insert and censored printed in black plus a dutch pressing from 1987 with uncensored black & white insert. Best Wishes OG US pressing. Alpha Omega 1st press. Near Death Experience 1st and only pressing. I even have a copy of Revenge on ltd. white/red splatter. Done!

lower east side crew

Last one of the birthday bunch and just as elusive as the other 4.

And also just like the others from the same haul it's in perfect condition.
First press of the first release on Revelation Records. A truly historic piece of vinyl.

I really don't know what else to say about this record. I feel like it's such a classic that absolutely no one into hardcore wouldn't know about it. Then again there are 'hardcore kids' that confuse Insted with Infest and when you try to explain what kinda music Insted plays they draw blanks when you throw in Youth Of Today, Youth Crew or Revelation Records. Times are strange.

inside job

No. 4 and also not just recently having been added to my wantlist

Turning Point - s/t 7" - 1989 Hi-Impact Records 1

Turning Point ranks among the top 5 classic youth crew bands for me and just like with the Judge 7" I've had countless 'almost mine' experiences with it. It feels so good to finally have a first press. 3rd and 4th press black vinyl I've had for a while already. Still quite some road left ahead of me before I can close the book on this collection.

While the above pictures show what everybody is very well familiar with the next picture shows why I'm particular happy about getting exactly this copy

It has a fucked up version of the cover printed on the inside. I guess they made a few test prints for the cover and then used the backside of those to print a good version of the cover on it. The nice low number 4 kinda speaks in favor of that. So far I have never seen a picture of another copy like this. Everything I saw was all white on the inside. Except for the address and numbering stamps that is of course.

Birthday treat no. 3

Judge - new york crew 7" - 1988 Schism Records Skiz-2

I cannot count how many times i was outbid by just one person on ebay for this record. So when I saw a friend of mine was selling his collection this was the first one I wanted to get. Luckily it was around my birthday so it wasn't the only one I got.

I'm sure you know all about this record. Especially with the recently rekindled interest due to their re-union which I went to New York for with a friend. It was a great trip and so worth it even considering the fact that I could have just waited a little while longer and then see them on their short euro trip. Which I did too, of course. But having seen them on stage for the very first time after all those years was something very special. Especially because it was the first time I ever saw them. The electricity in the venue that night is something I will never forget. People still doubted them actually playing while Sammy was already setting up drums. And then Mike Judge came on stage and all hell broke loose. I'd do it all over again. The Berlin show was great too and Essen was also pretty good but they were miles from that first night at the Black'n'Blue Bowl.

I got money for my birthday and blew it on 5 Singles. Here's the first one in alphabetical order:

So glad I finally have at least one copy of the 7".
And it's an original first press in immaculate condition.

I won't go as far out as xREGANx did with his awesome Brotherhood collection but I would like to at least have a copy of each cover variation so there are 3 more copies left to hunt down.

xSTEPDOWNx SHOWS

I started putting up shows in 2005 with a friend who slowly dropped out of it and was most active doing so until the end of 2007 with a total of 23 shows in those 3 years. In 2008 and 2009 I promoted one show each but none in 2010. And then came the day that another friend of mine talked me into helping him with putting up shows. So we had our first go at it in Nov. 2011 which was wildly successful. As a result of that Stepdown is back on the map. NON-PROFIT MAILORDER

I started up that distro in the mid 90's. I really can't remember exact dates. But I know that the first records I had on sale were a bunch of dead wood I got from Edward - Good Life. It was great for getting things started but at the same time it was hard getting rid of those.

After a while a friend of mine joined in and started taking over the whole opperation as he was much more active than me and I was more into politics than music at the time. So I quit FxU and took all the 'zines, books and political brochures with me to start something new.

This beast underwent a few namechanges but never took off due to the lack of interest by the general hc-kid. So I gave everything to people who hadn't been as jaded and disillusioned as I was at that time and stepped out of that arena.

VINYL-OD DISTRO

Back to the year 2005 again. After having spent some time away from "the hc-scene" (not the music, let alone philosophy) and slowly growing back into it. Pushed by a good start with xSTEPDOWNx I joined forces with another friend and started dealing Vinyl again. Now this got as messy as it can get so that I am now left with loads of records that nobody wants anymore. Trying to sell those off, dropping the name Vinyl-OD changing the agenda and merging this section with the label you can read about next.

SANDBLASTER

RECORDS & DISTRO

Totally boosted by all the great bands that were around I came up with the idea to put out a compilation LP in 2006. Joining forces with yet another friend to tackle that project led to the release of 3LP's and a split released MCD. Unfortunately the last LP we put out was by a band that decided to call it quits shortly after the 12" came out. Leaving us with about 400 of the 500 pressed records and most of our money tied up in those.

The lack of money and time (as our daily schedules got more and more busy) made us go on hiatus until mid 2011. Which is when the Get It Done! demo tape was released.

This was followed by the Telegraph Road demo tape and that's that for Sandblaster Records. For several reasons we decided to fold it but you can still check out all the release info and details about the records we did. One of the reasons is

GOOD INTENTIONS HC

which yet another friend and I started. It's an online store for merch and music. And though it's way legit now everything is still run 100% DIY.

With SBR I tried to specialize in distributing classic records be they old and used or current reissues / bootlegs and this is what we continue doing with GIHC next to making merch from US bands available right here in europe so you can save a few bucks on postage. We also do XcatalystX europe and of course we release records/ tapes too. From now on you will even be able to listen to those. Including each of the SBR releases. All hail the future!!

EXCUSE

Was my 1st ever Band. I think we started out in '97 but don't quote me on it. We did release a demo called "eleminate the opposition" and one of the members later played in Settle The Score RIP. I tried to play the guitar but sucked at it and stopped when that band due to ongoing member changes became...

NIRDEZNEB

Which I never really felt like being a part of. So in 2000 I split for good. They went on to release a CD and do a euro-tour with Creation Is Crucifixion. After that they kinda faded.

NO EASY RUN

Late 2000 early 2001 saw me picking up the pen to channel my thoughts and with it rose the desire to shout those into peoples faces. After a lot of trial and errors No Easy Run finally fell into place sometime during 2006 and I had a blast. Unfortunately in 01/09 it came to an end and ever since it's been trial and error all the way again. But I keep my PMA.
